The Scream, Reimagined Playfully
We partnered with the National Museum of Norway in Oslo to create a bold parody of Edvard Munch’s The Scream, reworked through the unexpected world of SpongeBob SquarePants. Familiar characters and objects take the place of the original figures, introducing humor and surprise while still preserving the composition’s emotional intensity. The piece leans into bright, animated elements that contrast with the original painting’s mood, highlighting the tension between classic and contemporary expression. The final illustration serves as both a tribute and a statement, reinforcing the idea that art continues to evolve, adapt, and even embrace absurdity without losing its cultural relevance.
