DREAMER
Dreamer came to this project with a specific challenge: visualize deep REM sleep in a way that feels bizarre and slightly unnerving, but still safe enough for kids. The goal was to create an illustration that captures the mystery of sleep without scaring anyone away from the science.

Inside the REM Maze
We partnered with Dreamer, a sleep research institute, to design an illustration for an article exploring how deep REM sleep works and why it matters for the human body. The image features a monster with tendril-like arms and a glowing maze at its center, representing the path the mind travels while asleep. Rendered in black for the sleep atmosphere and slime green to keep the tone kid-friendly, the piece feels eerie yet playful. The illustration sits alongside a large body of text, acting as a visual anchor that draws readers into the science while adding a sense of wonder and strangeness to the experience.
